Is Dr.Althea Real in Nepal? How to Check Before You Use It

Dr.Althea is a real brand, but fakes and bad resellers exist. Here is how to check your product in Nepal and what to do if the code fails.

You see a Dr.Althea serum on Instagram for a price that looks too good, or you open a box and something feels off. Now you want to know if what you have is real. Fair question. Here is how I would check, and what to do if the answer is bad.

Short answer

Dr.Althea is a real Korean skincare brand, and genuine products can be bought in Nepal. But a brand being real does not mean every bottle sold under its name is real. Fakes exist for any popular brand, and Dr.Althea is no exception. So the useful question is not whether the brand is real. It is whether your bottle came from a source you can trust.

How fake skincare reaches shoppers

Most fake products do not come from a shop with a sign. They come through social media pages, marketplace sellers and resellers who bought stock from someone who bought from someone else. Each step makes it harder to know where the product started. Some are copies made to look like the original. Others are real products that were stored badly, opened, refilled or sold after they expired. The second kind is more common than people think, and it can be just as bad for your face.

Another problem is that a good copy looks fine in a photo. That is why I do not trust photo checks. A picture of a box, even a sharp one, cannot prove a product is genuine. Anyone who tells you to "compare the font" is guessing. Our post on spotting fake COSRX makes the same point about another brand.

What to check

Start with the batch code. On Cerine, every product can be checked at cerinebeauty.com/verify. Type the batch code from your product and see what comes back. It takes a minute.

Then look at the price. If a Dr.Althea serum is much cheaper than what you see at authorised sellers, treat that as a red flag, not luck. Real stock has a real cost, and sellers cannot sell far under it for long without a reason. Sometimes the reason is a short date, or a fake. For comparison, here are some prices at Cerine in October 2026 (they can change, so check the product page): the Dr.Althea Vit C Boosting Serum is NPR 2,400 (original NPR 2,600) and the 345 Relief Cream Mist is NPR 2,200 (original NPR 2,400). The 345 Relief Cream is NPR 2,800 (original NPR 3,000), but it is out of stock right now.

Next, check the seller. Does the shop have an address you can visit? Can they tell you where their stock comes from? Will they answer questions? A seller who only sends photos and avoids direct questions is a risk. Also keep your proof of purchase, such as the receipt or chat history, for as long as you use the product. If something goes wrong, you will want it.

Finally, compare what you have with the official Dr.Althea website and its product pages. Look at the product name, size and ingredient list. If the ingredients on your box are very different from the official page, ask questions. I will not tell you what a genuine box should look like, because packaging changes between batches and I do not want to guess.

What Cerine does

We source from authorised distributors. Each product can be checked with the batch code at cerinebeauty.com/verify, and we have an authenticity guarantee: if a product is found to be inauthentic, we give a full refund or a replacement. You can also visit our store at Radhika Bhavan, Bagdol Rd, Lalitpur (Sunday to Friday, 10am to 6pm) and ask us directly, or order on WhatsApp at +977-9747744400. We deliver to all districts of Nepal. See the Dr.Althea page for the products we carry. For a bigger guide, read how to spot fake Korean skincare in Nepal, and where to buy Korean skincare in Kathmandu.

If the code does not work

Do not panic, and do not put the product on your face yet. First, check you typed the code correctly. Letters and numbers like O and 0 are easy to mix up. Try again. If it still fails, stop using the product and message us on WhatsApp with photos of the product, the batch code and where you bought it. If you bought it from us, the authenticity guarantee applies. If you bought it elsewhere, we cannot promise what the answer will be, but we can help you check it.

If a product has already caused redness, burning or a rash, stop using it and see a doctor or dermatologist. Do not try to fix it with more products.

Before you use a new serum

Even a genuine product can irritate your skin. The Vit C serum has vitamin C, niacinamide and tranexamic acid, so do a patch test first and add it to your routine slowly. In the Kathmandu Valley, UV is strong, so wear sunscreen every morning when you use any brightening product. Browse more in skincare.

Frequently asked questions

Is Dr.Althea sold at Cerine genuine?

We source from authorised distributors, and you can check any product with its batch code at cerinebeauty.com/verify. If a product is found to be inauthentic, we give a full refund or a replacement.

Can I tell a fake from a photo?

No. A photo alone cannot prove a product is real or fake. The batch code check and the seller you bought from matter more.

Is a very cheap Dr.Althea product a bad sign?

Usually, yes. If the price is far below normal, ask where the stock came from before you buy.

Can I use the Vit C serum in the monsoon?

Yes, but patch test first and use sunscreen. In humid weather, apply a small amount, since the serum layers under moisturiser. Stop if your skin burns or turns red.

Do you deliver Dr.Althea outside Kathmandu?

Yes. We deliver to all districts of Nepal. Order on WhatsApp at +977-9747744400.
