Fakes rarely come from the brand's own factory. They come from the middle of the supply chain. A seller buys cheap stock from an unknown source, or refills empty bottles, or sells old products that were stored badly in heat. Online sellers on social media can be hard to trace, and some close their pages when people complain. Sunscreen is a worse product to get wrong than a cream, because a sunscreen that does not protect shows up as a burn or dark marks later.

What to check before you pay
Start with the seller. Ask where the stock comes from. A real seller can name a distributor and answer without getting angry. If the answer is vague, or they only say "original, trust me", walk away.
Next, look at the price. If a Round Lab sunscreen is far below what you see on trusted pages, that is a red flag, not luck. Brands, importers and shops all have costs. A price that ignores all of them has to come from somewhere, and it is often a copy or an expired product. Compare the product name, size and details with the brand's official website, since fakes sometimes get these wrong, although good fakes do not.
Then look at the product itself. Does the texture, smell and colour match what you expect? Is there a batch code or manufacturing information on the box and the tube? A good fake can get the font right.
Finally, keep your proof of purchase. If a product causes a bad reaction or looks wrong, you will need it. Stop using the product, and patch test any replacement on your inner arm first.
